I was hoping this was the right forum for this post and that someone might have some info or suggestions...

I bought some new shoes recently and have had issues with my feet.

My old shoes are ~10 year old Sidi Dominator 2's and as far as I can remember, haven't had this issue.

The new shoes are Sidi Bullet 2's As far as I can tell these are the same size as the Dominators (I don't recall the size of the Dominator)

The problem I have starts after about 45 minutes to an hour (of road riding) - I get cramping on the outside edge of my foot. It starts just behind the ball and ends before the heel. I typically get some tingling in my toes in the 10-20 minutes before it starts.

I've tried moving the cleat, new insole, additional insole, thicker socks, thinner socks, tighter straps, looser straps, nothing seems to help except unclipping at stop lights and moving my feet around.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Maybe the wrong shoes. I've had Sidi's crap out and kill my feet because they're flexy. Perhaps the new model has a different sole composition.

i only had cramps on my lower calf earlier this year after a long 6 mth break, but in my case i was simply over exerting myself riding up a loooong 6km up hill without any break.

but i was okay the day after that.

My feet cramp when I don't drink enough.

My feet do what you're describing when I make my ankle braces too tight.

wrong shoes, wrong footbed, wrong socks, or shoes too tight

Thanks for the note, I cinch the top strap fairly tight, will try it looser next time....

Drink lots of water to prevent muscle cramps.

Thanks for the suggestions on hydration though I'm pretty sure this is a geometry / biometric / shoe issue and not a muscle cramp issue per se.

Where I'm puzzled is that I've tried various insoles and socks (super thin to fairly thick) and still get this problem.

The cramps are accompanied by some tingling in the toes and ONLY happen with my new shoes. The old shoes are fine. The fit seems to be identical but something is definitely going on.

One potential difference is that the (old) Dominator top strap is the clicky type with a fairly wide strap while the (new, crampy) Bullet 2 are a narrower velcro - otherwise the shows are darn near identical. As someone suggested, the top strap might be too tight - coupled with a narrower strap there might be a pressure point in the foot which is getting pinched.

Thanks for reading.
