I am looking at getting a replacement saddle for my Masi.
I sold some bike bits on ebay and have $500 to play with, can't get it into my bank account in Japan (keeps bouncing back and I have been in the bank and had them enter my bank info into paypal to be sure, but I have given up now and decided to just spend it!)

The current saddle is ok, but I want something a bit better. These are all around the $100 mark on ebay.

I am split between these.
The Cardiff Cambria in white (I love the Brooks Stussy edition, but ¥40,000 is a bit much, even if it does have Titanium rails to make it a sensible weight). This looks classic, but I am hoping will be comfortable for fast riding. Although it is heavy at 1.3lbs!!!!

Fizik Arione. Light, great reviews, looks good in red white.

Selle San Marco Regal Racing Team Edition, Titanium rails so competitive in the weight area, looks good on track bikes and has good comfort reviews also.

Specialized Body-works Toupe. Range of sizes, so I can get my ass measured to fit. Looks more tech modern, which I kinda think will kinda go with my carbon wheels.

Obviously comfort is top priority, but I think all of these will look nice too. So let me know what you think of them.

don't know about the cardiff, but I can attest to the other 3.

San Marco isn't as comfortable as it looks. For me, I ended up sitting on the rivets.

Specialized is nice but the one I rode felt really narrow. I guess that could be fixed w/ a custom order. Some people LOVE it.

Can't go wrong w/ arione. I think it's a solid saddle. Not too much perineal pressure and sit bones are reasonably happy.

The specialized has the most potential to be comfy if you can get it measure to your size.

everyone is different in regards to their prefered or optimal saddle choice. that said, fizik saddles are commonly praised and often receives good reviews.

yeah everyone's bits is different, but the arione is widely regarded as a great saddle in the comfort department, especially for the weight and agility, look at all the pro road riders who use it (it's a LOT).

Check out the Specialized Alias. It is similar to the Toupe but with a tiny bit more padding. The new 2009 white one is pretty clean looking and much more comfortable than the Toupe on my other bike without padded shorts. I dont know how to attach a picture though.

right click the photo and choose copy image location. then above the text entry box in the forum there is a square icon with a picture of a mountain and the sun, click it and paste the copied image location.

I am quite taken with the Stussy/Brooks Swallow, so the white Cardiff Cambria seems really tempting.

Any problems with these Brooks copies?

i say a pound and three ounces is stupid heavy for something that isn't a cruiser or commuter, i would go for the specialized or the arione

Can't speak to the Arione specifically, but I have a Fizik Pave and love it.

I only ride on specialized saddles. I guess their BG propaganda worked on me.

I ride a rolls and love it. Regal should be very similar

The Regal is quite a different shape to the Rolls. If it works for you it's a super comfy saddle though. Not all arses are created equal, so what might be right for you, might not be right for some. A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.

Arione. Only saddle I ride. I picked up a used white one at the Trexlertown bike swap about two years ago for $10. The center strip was either silver or grey and looks a bit different than my other saddles. It does take on some blue dye from one pair of jeans but it comes off if I wear another pair of jeans. I don't ride that particular bike on a daily basis though.

I have a Regal, and I liked it a lot for the first few months I had it, riding in just normal shorts/pants. and then I got proper cycling shorts with a chamois and after riding on that, It feels pretty uncomfortable riding in anything but my bib shorts.... I had a nashbar arione knock off and that was quite comfy. Feels better riding on that with my cycling shorts than on my regal too. But I haven't tried a "real" arione.... yet.
