I have some Soma doubles that don't seem to work so well with MKS Sylvan Track pedals.
It seems like the wide part of the leather is too long to get the the buckles closer to the bottom due the the pedals end caps. With the Soma Quad cages, the buckles are just too high.
Any others that might work that are NOT $100

Dude stop being cheap, just buy some Toshis, you'll only have to buy one pair for the rest of your life pretty much. I own 3 pairs, one for each bike, they're worth every penny, i picked up mine for $18 a pair...you just have to know where to get them :)
Cadence just came out with a $65 double strap that's laminated unlike those ****ty Somas. here's a link to the Cadence one, i still wouldn't buy anything but Toshi, but if you're wanting to be cheap, try the Cadence.

they're fine.... whats wrong with the buckles being high? it doesnt do anything that effects riding...
I would use a very sharp X-acto knife to trim near the logo end.

any double straps that aren't laminated like those Somas are a complete waste of money because you'll have to replace them easily in under a year, more than likely much much sooner. just spend oney on Toshis...

Doesnt look like you have pulled them through enough... Grab some pliers and go crazy.

Yep, you can pull the strap through a little harder and by doing so squish the cage down. I think this will solve the problem you're describing.

I had the exact same problem. Do like was said before: pull harder. After a couple days of riding they loosen up and form to the shape of your foot.

make sure you put a twist in the part of the leather that's in the pedal

with sylvans this isn't needed. do your research before making a stupid comment

What?

ignore it, you do that with pedals like GR-9s because they have wider areas for the straps so you twist them to prevent the straps from slipping. with the sylvans, because they're so tight already, there is NO NEED TO. steveymcdubs has no idea what he's talking about.

Totally unnecessary with doubles as it would be a pain.
You twist leather singles so they don't slip as often. The 'proper' way of installing them.

Ahh cool trick for singles! Glad you think its 'proper'! Nice puss.

Decent straps dont require twisting to stay in place.

That's why all my bikes have TOSHIS.
people really need to stop using ****ty toe straps. Spend the money once on Toshis, i have yet to regret it.

I ride the same setup. As said before just pull them tighter. Anyone else with this setup or something similar ever have their straps rubbing on the crankarm each full rotation?
