Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Trek 07 EX8 vs 08 EX8

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have been looking at some used bikes and was wondering if anyone has any experience with these two bikes. I have played around on the 08 model and it is fine. I was wondering if I could get a good deal on the 07 EX8 if it was a good suspension. I know they upgraded it but to what extent.
Thanks in advance, Marmax

I was under the impression that there was a significant upgrade in '08, but I don't follow Trek closely so I may be wrong about that. If you're looking at an '07 bike, I'd want to make sure that it has the APS pivot system, full-floating shock mount, etc.
That is what I'm worried about. I don't know either. Thanks

You can find specs on older bikes at Trek's website. They don't have too many details on pre-2008 bikes, though. Based on the pictures, it looks to me like the 2007 Fuel EX8 has a very different rear suspension design than the 2008 Fuel EX8. In addition, the fork and shock on the 2007 model look like they're probably not as advanced as the 2008.
