I am considering purchasing a Garmin 705.

Where would be the best place to purchase this? Best Price? Best return policy etc... ?

Any advise would be appreciated.

If I were to buy my Garmin Edge 305 over, I would buy it at REI. Their prices might not be the best, but I would have been able to return the unit and get a new one, without a hassle. I am on my 4th 305 in less than 2 years - all covered by warranty.

I needed to do all of these transactions through Garmin, packing and shipping each back, because the internet vendor I bought the unit from ignored my emails when the unit died.

I have a love / hate relationship with Garmin.

+1 for Geoman. Ordered a 705 on Monday and got it in Indy on Wednesday. They were helpful answering questions. Now which software...........

I waited for a sale at Performance Bike and bought my 705 with cadence for $100 off MSRP. I have only had my unit for a few weeks and have had no problems. I think that Performance will take care of me should my unit fail. I think you'll really like the 705 when you get it!

+1 on REI for their return policy. Wait for a sale or use your member rebate to buy.

Just received an email from Performance Bike stating that they are running a 20% off "everything" sale.

Agree that REI is a great place to buy from, I got my Garmin from them, however, don't plan on using one of the big 20 or 30% coupons that they release a couple times a year - all GPS is typically excluded.
