Hey everyone! I'm new to road biking, and I was planning on getting a road bike to commute to and from UCSF Mission Bay, where I work. Unfortunately, it's kind of hard finding an affordable bike on the East Bay Craigslist (my budget is around $250). I almost went for a Torino Lamborghini Rapido, until I read up in the forum archives how terrible they are. I also went to Cycles for Change in Alameda, but the only thing that they had in my size (I'm around 5'10", so I was looking for something around 56cm) was a $150 Schwinn Varsity that was insanely rusty.
What do you guys think? Should I just get the Schwinn and de-rust it somehow, or should I continue my epic search in Craigslist?
