Hi guys. I found this beautifully maintained Miyata 110 on my local kijiji. The seller wants $130 CAD for it. I've read several posts about this bike, and have seen a wide range of prices. I am thinking of offering $100.00. Does that seem fair or too high, etc? It really looks to be in good condition -seeing it tomorrow. Here is the link for the full view pic. I look forward to anything you vintage gurus can tell me, including a guess as to its model year.

Looks like a 1984 model. You can find the specs here (http://www.miyatacatalogs.com/2007/12/miyata-catalog-1984.html).
I'd say $100-130 is a fair deal but so much depends on the local market. It certainly is not too high for a bike like this in very good condition, like this one appears to be. It's a lower mid-range bike but Miyata made good ones and this looks to be in great shape. You might ask if the bike has just been stored or if it really has had maintenance done. If it's been sitting a long time you'll want to freshen up the grease in the hubs, BB, etc.
$130... that's a great deal in the Toronto area.

Thanks Iowegian for the tips. I'll be sure to ask re: storage vs. recent maintenance, although it's a pretty damn good job of painting out rust if he did. It sounds like I'm getting a fair price. Especially when anothe poster on that site had an ad for a Sekine with "wobbly rims" for $100.00.

I'd grab it if I was in that area. I doubt you'll find a nicer one at that price.

Oooo...thanks guys, now I'm excited. If it rides as nicely as it looks, I'm grabbing it....You guys keep your hands off my ad...LOL
+1, 1984 model. However, I would hesitate to call it a lower, mid-range model. It was more of an upper, entry level model. It's hard to go wrong with a Miyata providing it is in good condition (which it appears to be) and fits you properly.

+1 also! I got an 83 earlier in the year for $40, but it was the last year for stem shifters and chromed steel rims. However, the frame was very nice! I flipped it into a FG and it turned out very nice and clean. Just like Fuji, Miyata never really made a bad bike. The 84 model and up had the downtube shifters and alloy rims. IIRC

Going to move this to valuation.

Yep, that looks like a nice deal. I sold a Miyata 110 Mixte for $150.00 very easily last year (in Ohio). The 84 is a better version with alloy rims, and it looks really nice too. Good luck.

Well, he drove a hard bargain, but I got it for $110.00. The seat is new, but everything else is stock. It's fairly light too. It's a bit small. I have long legs so need a bit shorter top tube to reach the bars, but then end up with having to hike up the seat really high. But, I really need a bike for right now and I'll be able to resell this one when I can afford to buy another one. I'm just getting into tris and wanted a half decent road bike to get me started.
Thanks for all the help.

We just bought (as noted here with a tip o' the hat to cb400Bill) a 100 mixte for my daughter, and it is a very nice bike indeed, entry level or not. You can find (maybe you already have) your bike at www.miyatacatalogs.com. Local CL has a Miyata 90 mixte converted to fixtie for $350! I am pretty sure it's the same one that was offered a few days earlier at $90, stock.
