Does anybody have a creative, good idea to install a headset without a headset press? I heard you can do it with a block of wood and hammer, if you're good with the tools. Can anybody give me pointers on how to do this?

Go to Home Depot and get some threaded rod and some bolts to go with it and some big ass washers. Get it? I can draw a diagram if you want.

Does anybody know how to remove headset cups without a Cup Remover Tool (http://www.parktool.com/tools/RT_1.shtml)?

The Fixer's home made tool works really well, I have the same thing. Quick question, I usually install one cup at a time, can (or should) you do both simultaneously? I would think not as the head tube is nice and square and provides a good base from which to squarely press in the opposite cup.

see the following site and look under "headset replacement"

lots of useful info if you dont have a fully equipped bike shop in your cellar. How feasible it will be I think depends on the fit of the headset in the frame.

Ouch! Rather crude method of fixing things.... but it does the job.
