Alder Flat is a primitive campground with 6 sites which is lightly used and a mile from the road. The campsites are about 120' below road level, so car noise is minimal and masked by the Clackamas River. The campsites are within 50' of the river and there is plenty of easy river access.

Alder Flat is a hike-in campground a mile in from the road. The trail is passable by bike - depending on trail conditions it's possible we might have to unload partway down the trail and ferry our stuff over a short bridge. Alder Flat resembles most campsites in the Mount Hood National Forest except for a lack of sanitary facilities - it would be good to bring a small shovel and a trash bag to pack out any waste. There is an outhouse 1 mile from camp at Ripplebrook Guard Station. The site has no facilities: no showers, no toilets, no potable water. We will pass a number of campgrounds on the way out where water can be obtained. We may also haul wood from Estacada for a fire - Alder Flat has picnic tables and fire pits.

Notes:
1. Please arrive *before* the departure time so you can receive route information and so loads can be adjusted / balanced properly for the trip
2. A loaded tour of 45 miles will feel like 60 miles unloaded
