EDIT...Sorry can't schedule a ride. Gina's son is planning on surgery. Maybe at a later time but for now, no century planned.:(

The Century Promenade Theatres are very easy to get to. They're just east of the 57 freeway and the Katella Avenue exit. I've marked it on this Google Maps link: http://tinyurl.com/n5ktft

A set of quick and dirty directions:

Exit the 57 freeway at Katella Avenue and go EAST on Katella towards the Honda Center / Pond.

Go 1/2 mile east on Katella. Pass the Honda Center and cross over the SART. The road will bend to the left.

Go past the light at STRUCK Avenue. I can't remember the name of the next light, but you will make a LEFT at the light after STRUCK Avenue.

Go into the parking lot and make a left and park near the line of tall trees that are near the Starbucks. As long as you park out in the at area there is no problem.

From there it's a short 1/4 mile ride to the SART entrance at Katella.

The proper address is 1701 W. Katella Avenue, Orange, CA 92867.

Trust me, there's lots of parking. :)

Thanks. Her son has been on dialysis since he was 17. She donated a kidney which only lasted him one year then back on dialysis after it also failed. He has had several problems over the years and now is 29 years old. He's been in an out of the hospital over the years (12 years), sometimes every other weekend incuding seizures etc.. He just got word form the doc that he has congestive heart failure. He is scheduled for that Friday to have a procedure done (angeoplast???/can't spell it). If it does not work, he will be required to have open heart surgery. More than likley that weekend.

It's strange that she is worried that forum members might think she wussed out of the ride. I told her that this circumstance is by far more important than any ride, inlcuding the TourDeFrance. All this stems form a forum member that used to call me a wuss on the forums when I wouldn't sign up for expensive organized rides and travel as he was in an out of the hospital throughout the years having surgeries and such.

Just for the record, a family members life is far more important to us than making reservations at a hotel, paying entry fees, and traveling out of town for the weekends to impress another rider when one of our kids is going under the knife in a life or death situation.

Thanks Alice and this surely isn't directed towards you. It's directed towards anyone that thinks calling me a wuss for not participating in organized rides, spending money and time that is needed elsewhere is right when one of our kids has been serioulsy ill and in an out of the hospital over the years.

Well thanks and hope everyone understands why we need to postpone the ride.;)

Well, if it means anything, he has youth on his side. The younger you are, the more resilient you are and the better the recuperative powers.

Gina and Beanz,
May all go well with your son.
F those who think anyone's a wuss when family is involved.
You all know BF can be kinda harsh.
Everyone needs to honestly earn their wussification.

Gina (or anyone else for that matter) can ride a long ways whenever they want.

Thanks guys! Yes, youth has played a big part in his favor over the years. But it does catch up as the conditions continue (13 years now). A doctor told him about a month ago that he has the physical conditioning of a 70 y/o woman. But we are hoping for the best. Thanks all!:)

Hey Beanz,

Sorry to hear about Gina's son. I had no idea he's had all of those problems. Very taxing emotionally for sure. We saw you on the SART this morning two up on the Burley but we were just ships passing. Hope to see you soon and give our best to Gina.

Hi Beanz,

I'm sorry to hear about Gina's son. I hope all goes well with the angioplasty. Please keep us updated with his progress. You two are in my thoughts and prayers.

And I know you're not a wuss. You can out climb a lot of peeps. I won't even pay the fees for a lot of these organized rides cuz I'm cheap. . . and kinda of a wuss.:D

If you do decide to do the Gina century we can dedicate it for her son and suggest people who attend contribute to the kidney foundation. I'll help you any way I can.

You two take care.

Thanks for all the prayers, good wishes, good words, high spirits and high hopes! Seems they have all done some good!...Gina is VERY VERY HAPPY!:)

Mr. Beanz and Gina,

Glad to hear the angioplasty went well. I'm sure that is a great relief to the two of you, as well as to Gina's son.

Thanks again for the support both of you provided on the ride up GMR a few weeks ago. I hope to see both of you out on the road again soon.
