since there doesn't seem to be a place for track cycling here, this forum will have to do. just so everyone knows, our very own velo [not me -- just "velo..." look up her posts] is at the u.s. track nationals in california. she has already snagged a stars-n-stripes jersey in the scratch race in her category.

way ta go!

She also wasted them in the 2K pursuit quals by about 7 1/2 seconds...improved 11 seconds over last year...

I saw her ride in Indy at the Major Taylor Velodrome a couple of years ago...in four years, Olympics.

She won her second title, the 2K individual pursuit by six seconds, going a bit over 46KPH..a little over 28 and a half MPH in "real money" ;)

Is there a link to follow this? I tried the USCF site and either my navigation skills are poor (likely) or all that's there is intro stuff.

(edit) Never mind I think I found it. Very cool. That's already accomplishments she can look back on for the rest of her life and hopefully there's more to come.

Cyclingnews.com has reports under:
US Junior Track Nationals (NE)

In the Junior Women's scratch race, Kimberly Geist (East Coast Velo) from Emmaus, Trexlertown, showed what a thorough Junior track program can produce. This year she graduated from the 15-16 age group to immediately become successful in the 17-18 category. More Glory!
Kimberly Geist (East Coast Velo) takes the Stars and Stripes over Natalie Klemko, Mary Geier and Cassandra Osorio-McKenna in the 2k Pursuit.

Congratulations Velo!!! and thank you Rainmain for posting the results. I searched after reading Velocepedio's post and didn't know what to look for, just saw pictures of the history of the velodome. I tried looking for Velo a couple of years ago. I'll be following her career.

Hey guys. Thank-you all for the support. The official announcement for the Jr. World team (also to be held at the ADT Event Center Veldrome in California) should be made official today, or tomorrow. I've been assured I'm on it, however. I'm excited, and be sure you watch for me at the end of July! I met all my goals at nats. by winning the three endurance based races, and hopefully I'll be able to meet my goals at World's, too.

Velo is the embodiement of "Girl Power". I'm just thrilled for ya, girlfriend, and we're all rooting for you here. You've got a lot of fans here, and good luck to you! Please keep us updated on how your season is going, and provide pictures whenever you get the opportunity. And oh yeah, if you're coming to Chicago to race, let me know. I got a set of lungs on me and a cowbell that'll keep you going for as many laps as you need me to scream for! ;) :D

Our girl continued to rock. 1st in the 15K Points race, 3rd in sprint. She was 2nd in the TT qualification, but I don't see final results. Here are a couple of links. There are some links to more pics. Velo races for East Coast Velo, the long sleeve yellow and orange jersey. Easy to spot in the pics because she is usuall the one in front!

Added later - the TT qualification referred to above is a qualifying procedure for the sprint final.

Added still later - Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! (Think Chris Farley) The above was supposed to be an EDIT to the original post not a reply.

velocipedio, go to www.usacycling.org (the gallery) or www.cyclingnews.com and there are plenty of podium shots. Just look for ones that are 17-18 girls, either pursuit, points race, or scratch race. I'll be sure to post a pretty one in a world champion's jersey later... :)
