Ok, a few days ago a bunch of you guys were complaining about Hincapie being upset when he missed the yellow due to Garmin/AG2r screwing him over. The common complaint was, he should've ridden faster if he wanted it, and this is racing and there are no gimmies!

Today it was very apparent that Andy Schleck and Alberto allowed Frank to win the stage for his efforts in pulling Andy's butt up the mountains. So where's the complaining, you same guys should be upset that they didn't duke it out in a final sprint because that's what we'd expect from a "race".

You want complaining? Shoot, check out the 500+ posts on this thread complaining about Contador's attack that caused Kloden to get dropped...

I disagree they are apples to oranges. Both are gimmie situations.

Well, there's a lot of speculation in that post.

Yes, Contador clearly didn't sprint for the stage victory, but who knows if he could have beaten Frank if push had come to shove? Was it really Contadors gift to give?

And if he had taken the stage, who knows what the Schlecks would have said about that? If they had complained about it like Hincapie I would have considered that sort of pathetic also.

if there were time bonuses available and there were not a time trial the next day where
contador has historically been clearly superior, i reckon alberto woulda put in a better
sprint vs. the schlecks.

Time bonuses would have certainly led to a more exciting finish.

Grand tours are fun to watch just for the enormity of the spectacle, but the strategies and excitement of one-day classics are far superiour.

Crossing the line first - that's what racing was meant to be.
