Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was riding in the park two weeks ago when someone I never met before but obviously has seen me riding came up while I was on a break and said, "I've seen you around for the last month, try lowering your seat a little." Then last week another guy that I've seen before was riding with me and he told me the same thing plus told me how to get a good spin going.

So I've been adjusting my seat position these past 2 weeks, lowering it bit by bit and WOW, I used to go for 15-20 minutes and my hands would go painfully numb. Now I can go for almost 2 hours before they start going numb. Plus, I'm 4-5 gears lower, spinning faster, I feel less fatigued, have more endurance, and the whole experience is overall better. When I bought the bike, the person at the LBS didn't mention anything about spin or sizing or positioning to me but it's all better now. :D

I need people to make sound unsolicited advice about my career. But then, in NYC, I suppose unsolicited advice isn't too hard to come by, though most of it probably isn't particularly sound.
