Cyclocross - Sizing a trek XO

I recently sold a Trek XO that I bought as a 58cm frame. The fellow I sold it to (ebay) is measuring it and saying it is way big, ie 63cm. I don't remember if there is a label on it that said what size it is.

Any one know if there is any marking in the Trek XO that shows the size? I honestly don't remember if there is a decal, stamping, etc. and the buyer doesn't seem too...um...astute.

if you thought it was a 58cm frame, just look up the model in trek's archive and then tell the person the measurements. it could well be that that person is measuring wrong or is trying to reneg on the purchase.

Trek dose ot make teh XO series of bike in a 63. The biggest they make is the 62. I bet the guy you sold it to is measuring it wrong.

I know he's totally measuring wrong. I bought the frame from a Trek store and it came as a 58. I'm sure he's measuring it wrong, but I just don't remember any marking on the frame that says the size to make him happy. The big problem is that I broke one of my own rules and shipped it to Canada and the cost of shipping and customs makes it an expensive proposition (for him) to return it.

I figured there might be someone on the BF that knew more than I about how Trek marks their frames so I could try to satisfy the customer. He's not being a jerk, just unhappy that he got a frame that he thinks is too big and he can't use.

It probably had a sticker on it with the size when it was new but those get removed. I don't believe that there are any permanent markings on the bike to indicate the size.
Maybe you can email the serial number to Trek and they can look it up???

Mailing the SN to Trek and having them look it up sounds like the best plan.

Isn't simply measuring it properly an option? From the center of the bottom bracket to the clamp at the top of the seat tube should get you the answer you're looking for with close enough tolerances to easily match it to trek's list of available sizes..... I would ask if he used this method or some other, as it could just be a mistake as easy as measuring from the bottom of the bottom bracket and measuring on a slant because parts are in the way.


The SN is an idea though, they probably do keep records of it all.
