Recumbent - EZ Speedster vs EX1 for beginner

Mrs Worm has her heart set on a recumbent. I have been trying to convince her to go to a tandem so that she can keep up with my slithering but she wants a different view than my beautiful backside.
She tried out an EZ1 lite and likes it. She thought the EZ Sport was difficult to handle. She has not yet ridden the Speedster, mostly because it "doesn't look like a bike".
Is the SWB Speedster pretty easy for a beginner, once they get past the looks?

You might want to try the Sun EZ Rider. This bike is in between an EZ 1 Lite and EZ Sport. I has two 20" wheels and rear suspension. It is heavier than both the Sport and Lite, but offers a more comfy ride. I've got the CX cromoly and AX aluminum that I've been riding for a few weeks.

Hmmm...Mrs. Worm wants a recumbent...you want a tandem...madpogue gave you a good idea...let me offer you another possibility, and a possible solution to both of your wants...and Mrs. Worm will have lots of other great views besides your sexy backside!:D

Oops...I didn't see this until after I posted with the pic/link to the awesome(but way expensive) Greenspeed tandem trike...'sorry about that!

Since Mrs. Worm likes the EZ1 Lite, I thought about this as a possible solution...and for under $2000!

If you haven't even looked at a RANS bike yet, you haven't done your homework. This is an important-enough decision to spend a little time on. And it really is true that RANS makes the most confortable seat, an important consideration for all the time you will be seated on your 'bent.

Also, the conventional wisdom is that a short wheelbase bike is too much of an adaptation for many people in their first 'bent. Looks are not the only issue.

I ride a Rans Tailwind (CLWB). The seat is great! I understand other 'bent manufacturers use the Rans seat as well. It is even more comfortable than my office chair. I'm pretty light, about 136 pounds so I barely even dent the variable density foam. Good support without feeling hard. I think you would enjoy the Screamer.

My wife just got an EZ-1 Lite (AX). We tried all the different style of recumbants at the shop. From my personal testing (first time on recumbants, so I'm no expert), I found the short wheelbase ones to be really squirrely. The trikes were a breeze 'cause you can fall over :-) the MWB and LWB seemed easy enough to get used to in short order.

The Mrs also picked up the EX-1 Lite. Everyone is impressed. It is stylish, easy to ride and doesn't cost much (in comparison to other recumbents).
