Fifty Plus (50+) - A post so inconsequential it evens bores me!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

But I had a nice ride this morning (first day of the weekend here), just a couple of hours, maybe 60 kms or so, on my own, warm (105f) but not too humid, horizontal hills (which means there was a strong wind, exhilarating as a good descent at times, tough as a good climb at times), and all went well and very enjoyable. Still delighted by my bike, it really has been all I wanted when I bought it
And the point (tiny) of the post - only detail obsessives read on
I put the rear tyre pressure up to about 105 psi before starting, then got involved in something else, ice into the waterbottles or something. Didn't top off the front tyre. Checked it when I got back - 75 psi
And the ride was SO comfy. No road buzz, no 'twangy' feeling, no 'ting' of the cables or the bottles against the frame or the cages - and no discernable lost performance
I really think I'll use this as a setting for long rides in the future
Ok, I'll stop now. What a waste of bandwidth, eh?

There were two other people on the MUP this morning on my ride to work, that's a record.

Thanks, keep 'em coming
I mean, if I can't get a whole lot of STFU from the smart and witty here, I might repost on 'road'

Went out for a pre-dawn ride today, about 30km-35km (20-25 miles). Streets were nice and quiet, traffic lights were all greens :). No morning low clouds here along the SoCal coastline, so a great view of Venus in the eastern sky just as the first light of dawn came over the horizon. Time for a nap.

For casual riding, I like to run my tires at lower pressure as long as I don't go too low and have problems with snake bite flats. Tires that I normally ride at 110 psi for fast rides are very nice at about 85 psi for tooling around.

Nice try and I admire the attempt, but this thread is not even close to fitting into the elite company of the true BF inconsequential.

You want inconsequential? See my post, "Riding hard, so to speak..."
Do I get extra points for pimping my own post? :)
But the OPs point reminds me of the frequent observation concerning the "feel" of different frame materials: that it's nothing that can't be simulated with a 5-10 psi differences in tire pressure.
There, that should start a fight.

I thank you for your participation.
You know, often people on this board respond to posts about pretty bikes or delightful scenery with the comment 'this post is useless without pictures'
Normally, I agree. Just now, however, I won't insist

On my (bike) commute into work today, I encountered a young woman riding a mountain bike to wearing who gets the "best dressed cyclist" award - nice hat, light cotton sweater, jeans, and knee-length cowboy boots. Had her stuff in a messenger bag. She was cruising right along as a pretty good clip. I passed her after a stoplight, but had to press a bit to stay ahead of her after the light. We took slight different paths through the edge of downtown Seattle and when I saw her again in downtown Seattle, she was ahead of me again. So she wins.
Cowboy boots on bikes - gotta try that some time, though I couldn't carry off the rest of her outfit.

Try this for an article I posted earlier on this forum. It is an extensive discussion on tire pressure for your weight, and it will support your experience.

As I recall, you were looking for a carbon fiber wonder-bike. Is that what you got?
