Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've had the great privalege to learn a wonderful lesson, back up your computer, at least save all important information on a disk, so you can retrieve the information. Well, I had done that with my bike log up until June, then half way through June with a truckload of miles logged, I am attacked and some jerk wipes out my hard drive, and I lost all, ALL my information, I would love to say I have enough miles to be on track for a 15K year. Ain't going to know now. I mean I can guess, but that isn't coming home after work and logging the cycle computer miles after every commute.
So, if it's important, write it down and back it up. It's a hassle, but I've had to learn the hard way.

I learned the hard way many years ago. So, I can commiserate. I know have a script that runs every evening at a predetermined time that backs up any file that has changed and certain directories. It copies those files to a different hard disk (important in case the other hard disk crashes!). I then periodically copy the files from the second hard disk to a CD. And because I'm paranoid, I keep a copy of that CD at work in my desk and sometimes in my safe deposit box. That way if the whole computer is stolen or burns in a fire, I can recover my data. Hopefully, I'll never have to use the backup's backup.
