So I'm really enjoying riding alot more these days and have decided it's time for a proper road bike. Eventually I'll make the rounds to Zane cycles or Pedal Power both in CT. So I began to ponder the question with the tour on right now it's probably a bad time to buy a bike as a lot of people will see the tour and think hey I should buy a bike. So I was thinking there might be a more strategic time of year to buy a bike.

My thought is that it might be more advantageous to purchase a bike in the off season maybe at the beginning of fall of during the winter. I might fine a nice used bike that someone bought on a whim in the summer and realized it's not for them etc.... Is there a better time of year to buy to get the most bang for my buck as my budget will most likely be in the $600-800 range.

Thanks in advance

Actually many bike are on sale because of Tour. My makers introduce the new models/next years models at the Tour. My LBS has had Trek and Cannondale on sale the whole month of July.

How much is it worth to you to have that new bike and have good weather to ride it?

I'm a patient man, I can wait till next riding season. I can put up with my P.O.S walmart special for a bit. I'd like to buy something decent I'd like to pick up something with at least Shimano 105's , or Tiagra. Sora might be ok, but I'd rather have a larger budget to begin with than to have buyer's remorse.

I heard after summer isn't a bad time because some shops are looking to unload the summer inventory. Spring might also be a good time because everyone is getting ready for summer.
