My almost-never-bikes spouse suggested we (sans kids) go up to Wisconsin to camp and do the Elroy-Sparta trail. She even thought of throwing in a kayaking trip one day! I almost pushed it too far when I pulled out a "bike Wisconsin roads" book:o Think I'll take the Sputnik FG.

Yes, there's still hope for these spouses of ours. Mine is positively hooked; I love it. Although, I still want me and YOU to get up north on the trail.
We went under the Elroy Sparta trail going up to Minneapolis. Looks like a really nice trail. When are you planning to go?
Yeah, and be careful with that book! HA HA You gotta reel 'em in a bit at a time. :p

Heading up Monday. Bike a day, kayak a day, bike a day. And sample some of Wisconsin's finest  in between. Elroy-Sparta is the one with the 3 tunnels, including one so long you can't see either end at one point. Should be interesting.
Elroy-Sparta is a great trail. Don't forget your headlight or flashlight for the tunnels (especially the long one). You have to walk the tunnels, and you can do it without a light, but a light is nice because yoy can look at the sides/top of the tunnels to see how they were built. Very cool (in all senses of the word) - nothing like heading into the tunnels on a hot summer day - the temp drops nicely!
Those tunnels are very cool, and a little creepy if you've just watched Underworld the night before. I wouldn't ride anything less than a 32mm. Plan on having everything you might need at camp because I swear every town along the trail closes at 9pm. Have fun...it really is a very nice relaxing trail.

I just got back from a few days up there with the GF, and no bike and no camping. We had a good time, but somehow it wasn't doing anything that I picked.....

Nothing wrong with that. Can't really complain about having a good time.

No, and I'm already thinking of how I could do this again but with the bicycling this time.
