Did anybody notice that Lance sprinted right AFTER Kloden looked back? I'm sure Kloden relaxed at that point, thinking he had the stage win. Then he didn't look again until it was too late, as Lance was already about to pass him.

Timing was everything in that finish....

Kloden looked spent in the final sprint after his attack. It didn't seem like he and Ullrich were working together before that attack. Lesson learned by Kloden: NEVER relax when LA is charging up behind you!!!

Side note: interesting how the racers are now pushing away some of those crazy spectators running along side.

haha! I saw Kloden push that guy too! Sweet.

That pictures makes it look like Lance is trying to ride with no hands for the first time... "Look ma! No ha*" *crash* :D

he also said he gifted a stage to Basso

What that a direct quote? Is there a link? I thought it was so obviously a gift that it would be in bad form to come right out and say so.

I guess East Germans have NEVER had any doping scandals.

Er war wertvoll er ist jetzt ein Troll

Systran translated it. You'll probably get the point.

No I did not.

I think people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
The US trials werde a doping festival as far as I know...

Some of you guys act like the other riders are new to this or after LA has won 5 times,oh,next time they wont or they learned this time or whatever. Hey,the big boys all know what LA is and can do and they just dont seem to be able to beat him, simple as that. It might be to late for next time unless they are talking about next year.

Just thought I'd register to take this head on. So far, NO ONE on USA Track and Field has tested positive during the trials. The three that tested positive (Mickey Grimes, and Larry Wade for steroids, and Torri Edwards for nikethamide (a stimulant)) had their A positive tests in April and May. Also, Grimes and Wade didn't even make the team, so they're nothing to worry about in August. Torri is going before another arbitration hearing to decide her fate and if her consumation of coramine glucose and nikethamide in Martinique was inadvertent. So, in conclusion, do not speak on that which you do not know.

We're OT here but USA Track is an embarrassment. Between past cover-ups and current issues it is truly depressing.

As a high school T&F coach it pains me more than you can know to say that but it's become apparent that our pharmaceuticals were better than theirs and our officials at least as devious as theirs too.

Note to others: Don't build my comments about USA Track into anything bigger or outside of that sport, I'm not looking for a segueway to attack cyclists. I firmly believe in the presumption of innocence, USA Track has lost that through its actions.

Check out the stage 12 thread. ~100 posts into the thread there are some links to some articles about this.

I don't particularly care about US track and field. And who in that group is doping or not. I DO believe that doping is a BIG problem in MANY sports. People without the natural talent or genetics need the boost to stay competitive at the top levels. But everyone does NOT need them to be competitive.
Lance was beating the stuffing out of everyone is every sport he's attempted. Way back to when he was a teenager. I suppose he was doping back then too.
I just sick of all the accusations about Lance being on drugs.
He DID use EPO. Without it he would be DEAD.
So shut up about it for crying out loud.
Oh and in essence the German was supposed to say...
He was once valuable, now he's a troll.

I managed to tape all the stages but something happened when I was taping this stage (17). Does anyone, who might be willing to share, have it? (all my coverage is OLN) thanks!
