Greetings folks!

Since I am always googling bicycles and components and finding this site I figured it was time to get official.

I am lucky to have had a father that was seriously into cycling and consequently I've been on a bike since basically before I could walk. I lost interest for a few years during college, but when my car broke down in 2006 I decided biking was a better way. I've been an exclusive bicycle commuter since then, putting in about 200 miles a week.

After riding my dad's Schwinn Tempo around, I decided it was time to get myself a nice roadbike. Then my job vaporized. Subsequently, I've been scanning high and low for a nice first "real" roadbike. I had planned on dropping around $1k for a starter aluminum roadbike, but didn't like any of the ones I test rode. I am now (hopefully) going to be getting a custom built-up-from-the-bones Bridgestone-sourced 89 Schwinn World Sport and an all vintage 86 Tempo. I'm really fascinated by the Schwinn story, and I'm writing a fictional piece based on some of their history, so I figured it'd be good to have a few to inspire my writing. Plus, I got through my teens without ever owning one, so I figured while I was poor it would be a good time. :)

I look forward to interacting with all you. You've already helped me avoid some lemons I've seen for sale. Cheers!

Mike
