Today I saw my good friend Beth for the last time. Today we celebrated her life and prayed for her family and loved ones. After the funeral her older sister told us a wonderful story.

Unfortunately, Beth's mother passed 15 years ago. As Beth and her sister took care of some of her mother's affairs, she found a poem that her mother had kept. As the story goes, Beth immediately fell in love with the poem and kept it. Four years ago Beth and her husband Brian were blessed with a little boy named Brenden. While holding in the tears her sister described a conversation she had with Beth about the poem. She told her sister that when she passed on, Brenden was to have the poem. I'm sure when Brenden is older it will help comfort him. Beth was such a visionary.

If You Are Lonely

If you are lonely in the night
Or if the day is long
I hope you will remember me
And listen to my song
I hope you will remember dear,
The words I sang to you love,
Since we have been apart
B I have always cherished you
And held you in my heart
And when the rain has fallen and
The wind has walked the sea
My thoughts have whispered and my soul
Has prayed unceasingly
Than I might keep and comfort you
As long as day and night
And after every silver star
Has disappeared from sight

Rest in peace Beth. Your good buddy,

Rick

Wow- what can one say after that? My condolences, Couch- sounds like you'd do well to keep this one close to your heart too.

I'll keep Beth's Poem next to my heart. It's the only piece I have of her.

It made me cry too, and I don't cry. The poem is a testament to Beth's vision and kindness. There are some people in this world that are so special an unique. Beth was one of those special people that God took his time when creating her.

Alf, this was Beth's Poem to all of her friends and her child Brenden. I've been reading the poem the last two days and it now allways chears me up. I'm a Robert Frost type guy when it comes to poems; however Beth's poem has soon become my favorite.

When you write your book, and I know you will, that needs to be the opening.
