More to the point, there aren't many on Shimano. Having gone cross eyed trying to work out who's using who, I finally admitted defeat and fired up a list of equiptment (courtesy of another thread on here). The majority are using Campy, the rest are split between SRAM and Shimano with a slight majority going to Shimano.

Some teams mix components, like Saxo Bank. They use a Specialized crank, SRAM Red with DA chain and cassette. From what I read, a lot of the teams using SRAM are not using their chains or cassettes. That may have changed by now with the new SRAM cassettes IDK.

From personal experience, their chains and cassettes are noisy as hell. Don't know how much that plays in to the decision for a pro team to run them or not, but it definitely influenced my decision to take them off my bike.

I rode with a guy today that has Red on his Tarmac I can certainly agree with you. It was noisy. He plans to replace the chain and cassette with DA when the chain wears.

Saxo initially used SRAM chains when they switched, but immediately went back to DA chains after Cancellara snapped his chain in Flanders. I don't think the switch had anything to do with noise.

SRAM has a quality product (except for the chains and cassettes) and is being spec'ed by some highly placed teams.
