:D I don't expect too many changes from last year. I just purchased a 2004 7500FX, and am enjoying the investment. I looked at several manufacturers and models before I made my decision. Give the 7500FX or the 7700FX some serious consideration prior to making your decision. The 7500 and 7700 have more features, and the final decision depends on the ride/rider.

Please also consider checking for a Trek dealer with the "Body Scan" capability. Beacon Cycling and Fitness in New Jersey has the unit. Their staff and service helped me finalize my selection.

my LBS has 2005 7001s in a mens frame. Nothing else so far and you can't order them. they believe the whole line will be there in a matter of weeks.

LBS is Local Bike Shop right? I contacted mine about the 7500 FX and first of all was told it will be red and black. I then asked whether they had any picturesor specs but the answers was no - they are going to e-mail me back as soon as they get them. Anyone contact Trek, might get something out of them??

Anyway, got a question... Which is the best one to go for? I'm stuck between the 7500 FX and the 7300 FX, I prefer the look of the (2004) 7500 FX and it seems a better build, but obvously I've not yet seen the '05 edition......

to tell you the truth i am torn with all the models. i am looking at everything from a 7500 on down for myself. my wife is pretty instant she wants nothing better than a 7200 on a women's frame.

the problem for me isn't in understand the weight savings, it is understanding how one component group will improve shifting, reliability, ride quality etc.? the slight weight savings i don't care about as i move up, but i would be willing to move up if the component group would have *noticable* difference. i am having trouble getting anyone to give me a straight answer on this, that isn't vague.

oh well. i think i am going to get a 7300, my wife a 7200 and then at some point in the future i can get a high end bike if i really love riding again. i just wish i hadn't decided to do this purchase while we are "between" model years with little current stock and next to no information on the 2005s.

I just purchased the 2005 TREK 7100. The color is a matte finish [as opposed to the normally glossy], a medium silver and gold two tone. IMHO, one of the nicest looking bikes I've seen! They had a model below the 7100 [I forget what it was, but had a rigid front fork] and it had light silver and dark blue matte color. It was also attractive. I'm not sure if this matte finish is going to be new with all their 2005 line, but I've seen two different 2005 bikes that were matte.

That's all the info I have at the moment, other than that the specs seem to be the same as last year's model.

Well, it's not exactly a hybrid, or even a comfort bike, but I just got an '05 Trek 4300 hardtail mountain bike in a beautiful orange and silver paint scheme. I was looking at 7200's and Navigators (In fact my wife picked up an '04 Navigator 200.)

I ended up getting the 4300, and adjusting toward hybrid/comfort status with a softer saddle and some smoother, narrower, higher-pressure tires.

For what it's worth, the '05 model seems to match the published specs for the '04, other than the paint.

2005 Trek 7200: No feature set changes from 2004. Colors: Black Chrome/Smooth Silver (same as 2004, glossy) , Silver/Bue in MATTE finish (new for 2005.)

2005 Trek 7300: No feature set changes from 2004. Colors: Midnight Blue/Ball Burnished (same as 2004, glossy) , Latte (some coffee looking color) in MATTE finish (new for 2005.)

2005 Trek 7200FX: NEW for 2005. No details.

well the big bummer of the 2005's for me is the women's stepthrough frame sizes have gone from 3: 15, 17.5, 20 to just 2: 16, 20.

my 5'4 wife needs a 15 plain and simple so it now rules out a women's frame for her. while i think she understands that the stepthrough frame is very much a "old days" type frame, and my wife is no oldie at 28 years old, but i think she is a bit disappointed. it looks like a 7200 in 15 inch "men's/unisex" frame is going to be the way to go for her. too bad, but the women's frames must not sell well.

Yep, you had to just type in the changes to find them. I bet it works with other bikes too but these are the only ones I cared to look for.
