Road Cycling - Gary Fisher road bikes are sick!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just purchased a GF arc pro. Love it because it just has a little bit of swagger to it you cant find anywhere else. Definetly would recommend it to anyone getting into cycling.

I think they look great but I look at it like buying a car that's in it's first year of production. I'd rather wait for them to work all the kinks out and buy it the next year.

Gary Fisher road bikes have been produced for years...
they just used to say Lemond on the side. Same company (Trek), new stickers.

The 2009 Fishers are basically rebadged Lemonds, so what you're worried about shouldn't be an issue. However, GF will have some new designs in 2010.....don't know if they'll still be using Lemond frames or not.

I'm pretty sure the 2009's are just the Lemond frames and the 2010 bikes will be all new. I bought a 2009 AR Super for my first road bike and thought the value was better than other bikes at the same price point.

I realize that. And I know that they are a great deal for the price, especially compared to some of their Trek counterparts. Let's see some pics!

I get a kick out of the smart ass comments from people who bash a new brand stepping into road cycling. I suppose if you don't ride Specialized, Cannondale, or dare I say Trek, you're a fred or are not cool enough. I'm a Clyde on a Gary Fisher cyclocross bike, so I really must blow you away on the loser-meter huh? :thumb:
Anyways (now that my rant is out of my system), I was told by a LBS that the 2010 will indeed be all Gary Fisher designs/models, and not Lemond. My Presidio is just a rebadged Lemond, but I did buy it for the value. Yeah it's a steel frame, but it rides great and it came with Rival. I was not impressed with the Specialized Tricross or Trek XO. Right now I using my Presidio as double duty road/offroad, but come next spring I will be buying a true road bike, and you can bet your ass it will be a Gary Fisher. Nobody likes change or new kids on the block (yes the boyband too ;) ) but lets leave the wussy analogies out of it.
Sorry if I am ranting too much but it's a touchy subject with me as of late. I shouldn't care what people think because I DO love MY bike and that's all that matters. Right? LOL

Whoa. Dude, take your medicine or something. Not a single post in here bashed GF.
But if you're that insecure about your bike choice, feel free to rant at the voices in your head.
If by swagger you mean a horrible graphics package, then yes--it has swagger.
Folks are correct when they say the 09 Gary Fisher roadbikes are nothing more than rebadged Lemonds. However, Lemond bikes had a beautifully simplistic graphics panel on it with a usually beautiful basecoat of paint. The GF's are just downright ugly and hard to look at.
And yes, a company known for off-road bikes seems rather odd to make road bikes. I wish Trek had just of brought the Klein name back to north america to fill the niche.

Could you explain what you mean by swagger and how it relates to a road bike? Thanks

Correct. The loser-meter is registering a 9.5 right now. If you're not concerned about being the coolest rider by riding the most coveted bike in the best gear don't bother getting involved with this sport; get yourself some unworthy hunk of metal, go huff and puff up some hills, then make your way to the Commuters forum.

Sorry to hear that.

It's all about caring what others think, who cares what YOU think.

Growing up with a cyclist (my father) I hated everything about it. Now I am a well rounded athlete looking for diverse training options. Cycling is one of my favorite things to do, and love the challenges of the different trips I take. Started commuting to work only on Saturdays when the traffic isnt bad. 14 miles to work can get there in 45min. Call me what you want keep up with me, and then you can talk.
Swagger is something everyone should have with them everyday.

Im very slow. When my legs start to burn I get weak, and then I tell myself I cant go any further. Maybe if I had someone to bike with they could push me through, and keep me motivated. My seat really hurts my butt too, what can I do about that.

You have to have your graphics card set at highest color quality (32-bit) or the pictures won't load. Too many graphics and colors on the 09 Gary Fisher road bikes for your monitor.

The red and white one looks pretty good, would match my kit very well.
I *love* the look of the women's version.
If it came in a 59, with men's geometry and saddle, I'd snap it up. Customize it with some purple anodized spoke nipples and I'd call it complete.

My LBS stock them for their road bikes. One could have been my first road bike but I didn't have the cash then for a new bike.

A Gary Fisher bike will make those problems go away like magic.

well...apparently I made an ass out of myself with my last post. I'll go ahead and apologize. Long ****ty night at work makes for a bad attitude. I will agree that the GF decals are a little much, I would much have preferred the Lemond layout myself. The only reason I'm touchy with the subject is because obviously I ride one. I just took it too far is all, hence the apology. Yes I realize GF is a Trek brand. I still think people should reserve judgement for the 2010 models though. And there was no one with "smartass" comments on this thread. Another forum I was on a while ago had a lot of bashing. Lemond wasn't a bad brand and made a pretty decent bike, not sure why so many people are hating on GF. I will also say that my bike does ride very nice for the money I paid, and I am very happy with it at this point. We'll see what next year brings with a new bike.

Yes, but his career and image is based solely on his cyclocross and mainly, mountain biking exploits. Didn't the roadies not like him because of his appearance, so this drove him to other venues (off-road)?
A lot of people start their careers in different ways than what makes them famous (or what they end up being really good at).
With that said, I think it was rather silly to introduce a road bike lineup to a company thats image was nothing but mountain bikes.
