Just wondering if anyone got that NJS stuff. I think it'd be cool (expensive though) to have an all NJS bike. Are there any NJS resources on the web?

I thought about it when I found a 3Rensho in my size. Decided not to when I went back to the shop and the frame was gone. If I ever find one again, I'll probably go for it. NJS is expensive, but it's nice. I don't know of any resource, but businesscycles and americancyclery have a pretty good selection of stuff online.

I pulled a lotus eclair out of the gargage a couple weeks ago. Interestingly the clips are stamped NJS. That's the only NJS stuff I have

finding bars, cranks, and pedals is easy....

it's the complete wheels and frames that's freakin hard.

not that you need to pay that much. all you need to know is that NJS spec calls for 36-hole tubular wheels. Suzue and Shimano NJS hubs are easy to find. 36-hole Araya gold label rims are kinda rare outside of Japan these days, tho... but you might get lucky...

Just keep in mind that you are paying for stuff which may, in the end, mean nothing to you as far as performance or durability or anything but the fact that it's NJS.

Are you serious? I was wondering because those MKS sylvan pedals for $30 look low quality to me...of course their more expensive NJS one's look real sweet. NJS...so it's not much more than a name?

not much more. NJS certification came about originally to set a standard for bikes used in professional Keirin racing. basically, since a lot of money is bet on those races, all parts of the bike have to manufactured to a certain standard to keep the playing field level, so to speak. it's really not anything all that special...
