This afternoon, I was cruiz'n at a moderately low speed when my foot misfired and hit the ground. Next thing that happened was "Mayday! Maday! Flight 274 GOING DOWN!!!" I hit on the broad side of my arm and rolled. Good thing I had a helmet because my head was part of the action roll. Unfortunately, I got a bad case of road rash. I rode home fine, only a few ... "blocks" ... to the house. After cleaning the wound and getting an application of Neosporin, I went for a drink of water when the earth went into overdrive, sending me on a wall-walking trip back to the bed. What a Rush!!!

Let's hear your tales of interest...

Bit of road rash, some that were bad enough to leave scars, but I have never broken so much as a fingernail in my life.

Back in my youth, when I raced crits, I got tons of raod rash, a cuncussion (before the days of helmets), and a broken hand when I crashed and a trailing rider ran over my hand.
In my second life on two wheels, some road rash, a cracked (not broken) collar bone, and a triangular gouge out of my ankle by the chainring. I seem to toss the bike up in the air when I go over the bars. Twice now it has landed on top of me after taking a header.

Two weeks ago I got my front wheel stuck in a rut because I wasn't paying attention.

Next thing I know im flying over my handlebars and my little finger on my right hand is dislocated. Strangely enough it didn't hurt too bad.

Let's see...
Last crash was in February. Hit some cinders, used to give cars traction on snow and ice, and my front wheel went out from under me.

I really bruised my right side, so badly I couldn't walk, but luckily, I could ride. After I straightened the handlebars on the stem, I headed home. Only after I got home, did I find the crack right through the right side of my helmet. I also developed a good-sized goose egg on the right side of my head. I believe the helmet saved my bean.

When a motorist turned left across my path in 1976, I received a broken clavicle, a concussion, bent Reynolds 531 top and down tubes, and a $2700 out-of-court settlement.

By misfiring foot do you mean it hit the ground on a turn, or slipped off the pedal, or something else?

On a neighborhood street, a kid rides out of a driveway right in front of me. I had no chance to avoid him, and hit his back wheel. After an airborn cartwheel, I land on the back of my left shoulder leaving most of the skin on the road, and then the rest of me hits hard. After prolonged mining for gravel in my shoulder, I leave the hospital with lots of bandages. My bike smacked the parked car on the right, bent both rims but was OK otherwise. :)

I am embarrassed to admit I had no helmet. But back then, no-one wore them. I am lucky I didn't land on my skull..

Oh, the kid was fine, of course

Turning a very sharp corner at too high speed. Prematurely alternated the left/right pedal up/down status in anticipation of the next corner and it clipped the ground. Bike somehow managed to stay upright but turned towards the hill on the inside of the corner. Needless to say, I ran off the road into the gravel and eventually the hillside. I think there's still an imprint of me there somewhere...
