Name it guys!
Hushovd on a mountain breakaway.
Hushovd on a mountain breakaway.
+1 to that, a sprinter off on a flyer in the mountains, and having a great time with it.
Next would be the whole end of that same stage. That was about as hard a race to the finish as I've seen - the Schlecks and Contador, then all the rest strung out down the mountain behind.
Losing count of the number of times Menchov fell off ;)
Really it was Thor sticking it to Cav.

Contador seizing control of Astana by jumping into second.
Garmin making sure Wiggins didn't get gapped and keeping Nocentini in yellow.
Armstrong's gob on the podium
Andy celebrating as Frank crossed the line to take the queen stage.
I don't know, lance taking 3 years off and coming back and still getting on the podium should rank up there.

His return brought cycling back to 1991. Unfortunately the Lance thing doesn't seem to be a "moment."

Haussler winning
+1. Haussler winning the rainy cold stage in the mountains was a really awesome moment. It was an emotional finish and a great thing to happen to a guy who seems pretty humble.

Dude you've made 15 posts to this forum and 95% of them have been to the tune of "lance is a doper." We get it...you don't like Lance. We don't need you to reiterate your feelings in every single thread. Why don't you try and make a legitimate contribution for a change.
Another of my favorite moments during the tour was the banning of Reid Rothchild...his posts were of similar motivations as yours. You're entitled to your opinions on Lance but it just gets old reading your same thought over and over again.

+1 to that. frank also said he more or less prefers seeing his little brother winning than himself:) cool. disappointed he couldn't drop armstrong on the ventoux but maybe next year;)
From Steephill, stage 15 (Verbier), very impressive solo effort:
"According to the video, Dutch rider Kenny van Hummel of Skil-Shimano was dropped 10 km from the start. That means he rode almost 200 km on his own at an average speed of 35.60 km/h (Contador rode 40.96 km/h) . He felt really bad when he got dropped (obviously) and wanted to give up but his DS told him: “Fight dammit!” and after a while he refound some legs -- translation by Ted van de Weteringe
Kenny van Hummel now leads the Lanterne Rouge competition by 39 minutes. (The Lanterne Rouge is an unofficial award that goes to the rider with highest overall time while still making the time cut for each stage.)"

The whole three weeks.
Lance demonstrates to pro cycling that not only can he take four years off, but also lose about a month of training due to his broken collarbone and still kick the vast majority of pro cycling's asses.
I found it very amusing.

Watching Contador's acceleration on the stage he took 2nd place in the GC (don't recall which stage it was off hand). Whatever you feel about his pistol trick, his attitude toward team tactics, or anything else, that acceleration was awe-inspiring.

You know there's a thread devoted to the Lanterne Rouge competition?
Favorite Lance moment:
At 1.4 km on the Ventoux, Andy attacking and Lance beating Contador to mark him. (That was the one where the announcers incorrectly thought they dropped Frank). The old man was feeling his oats!
Favorite overall:
The guy crying because he won a stage.
Best interview:

Correct: Not.
You got who I mean (Haussler, isn't it?) That moment pretty much sums it all up.
But Astraloza was pretty good too.

jimmyjack Contador seizing control of Astana by jumping into second.
Garmin making sure Wiggins didn't get gapped and keeping Nocentini in yellow.
Btw, Reed Rothchild was on these threads, the porn star? I don't think he spells his name "Reid" though.
Anyways, that's pretty cool dude. I'm stoked.:)
Nicki Sorenson's stage victory celebration was my favorite celebration. Columbiere was the favorite moment.

Yeah I missed that post...but eitherway it is one of probably 3 posts where you haven't mentioned lance in a negative way (although some here would take "contador seizing control of Astana" as a lance bashing post). Not picking on just you but it just gets old between the "fanboys" and the "haters" in here. And yes there was a Reid Rothchild in here and he spelled his name "Reid" and all he ever talked about was how Lemond was god and Lance was a doper. I think it is fair for everyone to have their own opinions but when they say essentially the same thing in every post despite the thread it gets annoying.

hmmm... there were lots of great moments that i liked...
loved that Astarloza win, and Andy and Frank Schleck celebration when Frank crossed the line first!
one moment that nobody mentioned so far that was great also was that breakaway win of Thomas Voeckler passing the line just few second in front of speeding peleton!

Sastre's apology.
Cavendish's classy interview.
But mostly I was awestruck by some of the aerial video footage. Most notably the descents through the valleys.
There's no other sport on television that has those kinds of images.

Yeah...that's a good one
1. Hushovd out front on a mountain stage, that is how you win the green. Nice job Thor.
2. Cav winning 6, hell of a team.
3. Hincapie riding for the last several days with a possible cracked shoulder, that is a competitor.
4. Even though I did not think he could do it, Lance on the podium. Pretty impressive.

Take another look at the last few km's of stage 21 where the speeds were getting insane and Garmin was making a serious attempt to upstage Columbia's leadout train. Then there comes Hincapie just tearing it up - he pulled his team right by Garmin's best hammers and back into perfect placement for the final sprint...that was awesome even without a busted collarbone. I hope he sticks with Columbia next year, myself.

haussler, feillu (sp?), astarloza stage victories
contador's winning acceleration on the arcalis against team orders/wishes
essentially relegating armstrong to 2nd banana.
hushovd's green jersey points hunting expedition in the mountains.
nocentini's stubborness/refusal to hand over the yellow jersey.
least favorite-pellizotti's refusal to kiss the black podium girl.:(

The final Columbia train in the Champs Elysse was awe-inspiring.
Another one I really liked: Roman Feillu celebrating like a madman in l'autobus because little bro' had taken the stage.

Yep...when that tight turn eliminated everyone but Renshaw and Cav it was just a special moment of speed. It was great that they had a motorbike lane that could follow him with the camera. I heard 80kph on that sprint.:eek:
Thomas Voelckers 186km break away was another favorite.
Contador free wheeling it on stage 7 launch.
Lance gapping to the leaders after getting dropped.

And the best micromoment of that was when Thor skidded sideways toward the barrier (I thought we were going to see a Frank Schleck redux), then he hit the grass, caught himself, and saved it. Then he waved to the moto like "nothin' to it!"

That was a close one! Great control and composure from Hushovd. Not so lucky for Menchov though.
