My daughter is looking for a new bike. I'm looking for advice and opinions.
She'll be using it for commuting and possible fitness rides.

I'm thinking Giant Dash (which replaces the FCR) or the Giant Boulder (with less agressive tires)
Also the Trek 7.3.

The Dash/7.3 seem like good all around bikes but she lives in an area with some great Mt biking near so I'm thinking of something with a front shock.

I'm open to other brands as well. I'm just more familier with Giant.

I just bought this for my daughter, and plan to put some less aggressive tires on for her for now (as most of her riding is road, with some easy singletrack with me):

Have read mostly good things about IBEX. The bike is spec'd well for the price. There is minimal assembly needed. Hasn't come yet, so I can't give you any first hand info, except to say that dealing with the folks at IBEX so far has been extremely easy -- they respond to emails very promptly, and answer all my questions. I even bought an Ignition frame for myself.
