Let me first say that I am not a cyclist, but I believe that Eastern Oregon is the perfect place for you to take that perfect ride. If I were a cyclist, I know this is the area where I would want to spend some time.
Our roads through the mountains have very little traffic, with awesome scenery.
Sumpter is located 50 miles East of John Day, and 30 miles West of Baker City, and is on the Ekhorn Scenic Byway.
Sumpter has a Hostel (styled after an 1880's Military Barracks), for you to overnight at.
