Were any animals (birds, dogs, horses filmed or reported to be struck by a bicyclist during the 2009 TDF?
Post a link to a reference if you are aware of an incidence.

I saw a tiny dog lying feet up in the road earlier in the tour - definately hit and dead. It got run over by either the peloton, a motorcycle or team car. One of the judges cars stopped so the poor lady could scrape her little precious up off the pavement. Sorry I dont have a link for you or remember what stage.

The dog was a small terrier type that was struck by Benoit Vaugrenard. All I saw was the poor thing laying feet up and a woman waddling out to pick it up. I have tried to google the incident but have been unable to find anything.
Worse than animals being hit: Woman killed by motorcycle during Tour (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106771548)

Anyone have link or "official" news to solidify bet?
I blame the Dog’s death on Team Garmin/Slipstream and the womens death on the Obama administration health care program!

No. Clearly it Alberto Contador's fault. Along with global warming and the economic recession.

I feel bad for the dog too, but not it's idiotic owner who didn't think it would be a good idea to keep the dog on a leash a couple metres away from a road where 200 cyclists and dozens of motorcycles and cars will be racing along with no chance of stopping without causing serious carnage.

agreed - stupid owners.
ps. The woman who got killed, she was stupid as well. She was crossing the road a bunch of times that day.

The French police warn people it is strictly forbidden to cross the road.
I couldn't find this dog, but you tube has 2 dogs run over in 2007. But it looks like both dogs survive, and no rider is taken out of the race. Both dogs off the leash.
