- Tony Martin: Impressive young all-rounder.

- Cadel Evans: Will probably jump back from his disappointing '09 TdF. But can he improve enough to catch the likes of Schleck, Contador & Wiggins?

- Bradley Wiggins: If he improves again, a genuine yellow jersey contender.

- Vincenzo Nibali: Slipped under the radar somewhat, judging from press coverage. But he has impressed a lot.

And of course, the usual suspects of Contador, Schleck, Armstrong & co.

You can add Roman Kreuziger and Franco Pellizotti from Liquigas to that list as well. Liquigas won KOM and had 2 of the top 3 young riders (after A. Schleck). Nice tour for that squad. Like you said, under the radar.

there was an article recently that showed that most of the top 10 from last year weren't in contention this year.

Cadel Evans is old news, if he ever gets near the podium of the Tour again, I'll clean the drivetrain of my bike by licking it.

Haha, quite true. I'm afraid he might have peaked at the wrong time - at the rate Contador & Schleck are going, he's going to have a hard time catching up.

Brice Felliu
Levi Leipheimer (10:1 odds say that LA recruits him for Team RadioShack. He raced valiantly, and I think he would have been climbing at least as well as F. Schleck, Kloden, and LA)
Chris Horner (Got screwed out of a spot on Astana this year. I'm calling him as a dark horse candidate.)
Nibali
Astarloza
