Ugh... I decided to fix up my child stoker set up on my tandem (1998 Cannondale RT1000). Right now, I have a seatpost crammed into the adj. stoker stem socket with a threadless stem clamped to the seatpost and a kid's bike handlebar in the threadless stem.
So I wanted to use a Wald 8069 (http://www.amazon.com/Wald-8069-Hi-Rise-Handlebar-24-5-Inches/dp/B000WY5SL0)high-rise handlebar in the original stoker stem for a cleaner, simpler design. I bought the handlebar... only to find that my stoker stem is an older one-bolt design, so I would have to slide the old handlebar out and slide the new one in.
Not cool, because I'd like to be able to quickly switch between kid setup and adult setup. And I'm not sure if I can snake the tight bends in the Wald 8069 through the stem anyway.
All the stoker stems I see online are about $75 or so. Gulp! Any cheaper sources/options out there?
