I've turned down buying several steel frames because they had rusty top tube brake cable braze-ons. It seems to be pretty common. I was wondering if this was an easy repair, or something that should be avoided.

That's why I use stainless cable braze-ons.

It is easy to put them on, but on a high end bike paint can be 2/3rds pf the time, on a low end bike you can suit yourself.

I thinkit became a more common problem in the early '90s with the rapid increase of indoor trainers.
