I joined this forum because I thought I'd get useful information and hear other's experiences about biking, but, for the most part, and pardon me if this is not you, I've read useless garbage about people vandalizing cars, whining about "newbies" posting about the "electra" as if there were an elite group of bike riders, - the rude responses I've received from my postings don't merit any more of my time. Get a life.

well, there are plenty of constructive posts out there. If you don't want to read the spam/whining then skip over that post and read something else.

Thanks for making my point, don't post any more to me, I'm gone :fight:

7 posts including these, guess you spend a lot of time reading. Whatever...someone who bothered to be helpful to members or part of the forums, I would care.

Basically your post is hypocritical\ critical and in the wrong forum. Don't know what set you off, with a post like that-'o cares. Perhaps you are READING in the wrong forum.

I read your posts, nobody bit you. Lots of posts bug me, this, enough, to say:

Go for a nice bike ride and write if something comes up.

Quit complaining or write something interesting..Cheer up and TRY to have a nice day.

peace->jef.

If you really didn't care, you wouldn't have posted anything to that effect. Your actions speak louder than your words. You sound like some neglected child in need of attention. Well congratulations, you've got it. You are free to go now.

it's just like anything public....you sometimes have weed though a bunch of s*it to find something good. but trust me, there are some very knowledgable people on here. if you post good questions, respond to things you know about, etc.. it will be worth your time.

I just did a quick search of Explorer's posts, and if anyone has any doubt that this thread is trollbait, I'd encourage you to do the same. In his first post on the board he calls everyone "the rest of these whiners".

Dude, the fact is, forums exist basically for people to express opinions, and that includes so-called "whiners". If you don't like it, you are under no obligation to read it. If you have a problem with specific members, or feel you have been attacked on a personal level you can report the post and it will be removed, or place the problem members on your ignore list.

I've actually seen quite a few different forums over the years, and this is by far the most civilised of them.

Quite civilized, but not as restrictive as others I have used. There's a forum moderator that thinks endorphins are illegal drugs!

I've seen worse. I know of a forum where "spanky" is a banned word.

You really haven't hung out on forums for the more "popular" pc games. Such as UBI or Gayspy. Those are TRULY scary forums. Full of 5 year old kids that type 'u', '4', 'r', 'da' and generally make an idiot of themselves. Don't forget moderators that ban/delete/lock threads that represent a viewpoint other than their own.

To be honest, BF isn't the absolutely most civilized message board I've used. But I'd say it's in the top three. The level of vitriol I've seen on other forums is staggering.

I'd say this board is mid-range. You wanna see some serious crap check out pirate4x4.com's general board, those dudes can be harsh, and very lewd. Used to hang out there when I cared about Land Cruisers. Now, I might be partial but www.ih8mud.com is the best forum I've ever been on. No BS and excellent mods. I'm partial because I built his server and am volunteer admin for it, and am sitting here wearing a www.ih8mud.com t-shirt :p

Well I donīt like every single post either but I have got lots of useful and interesting information from reading this forum and do not really understand how you can characterize most of the posts as "garbage" and "whining"- but this is the internet-everyone can post their own views just as you have done- if this is your view then go and find a forum that suits you better. Good luck and sorry if my views have angered you.

Oh and about the Electra thread, if you are referring to my post criticizing the stealth advertising then I think you have misread what I wrote. I was not suggesting that there is an elite group of bikers. I am a newbie here myself and certainly do not classify myself in any elite group. What I was suggesting was that some of the posts were not honest and objective. Joe already caught one guy from Electra making stealth posts and I donīt think he is the only one. This type of thing has happened before (see the rotorcrank thread) and it will happen again.

some of the gaming boards im on makes this board look like the very symbol of civility.

Keep in mind one of them bans people who are too nice. This board on the other hand is pretty good both ways.

I was critical of the Electra on one point. It's lack of a Brooks saddle. If the geometry of the bike forces you to set back in a low rider position, you'll feel all the bumps ruts and pot holes.

Explorer, its this particular section of the forum, not the entire forum. I, like you, cant stand to enter this section. I wont get into the details but the snobbery and violent tendencies here do not portray what I feel a cyclist is or should be.

Most of the posters in this section hate the world and feel it should revolve around them and their bike. I come buy once every month or so just stay in touch. Each time I visit I stay away longer.

Explorer, I'm with you. Stay away. All the valuable advice is in the other sections.

Ditto. I've posted questions that just weren't worded right but being a regular poster, most people get the drift of what I'm trying to say without judging. Kudos to the BF board! Kudo's to its members.
