i'm planning to ride to the copper triangle this weekend from FC, and i've decided i'm gonna do it FC> lefthand> peak to peak> blackhawk> idaho springs> loveland pass> frisco (where my hotel is).
i've got a decent sense of the route except for getting from blackhawk to idaho springs, which looks like a pain.

any suggestions?

Looks like there's a bike route on Virginia Canyon Road to cut off a part of Central City Parkway you can't ride on. CCP takes you to I-70 where there is a frontage road.

I tried to do this once, and failed to get on CCP when I should have - it's much sooner than I thought. Stayed on Virginia Cyn aka Oh My God Road, which turned to dirt, and dumped me unceremoniously in Idaho Springs after a long time - it was a pretty rough road and a lot of descending, and for a long time I didn't know where I was. Ultimately, though, it was just fine.
