Dudes,
Awesome Lance ! I pulled my rear Mavic SSC Sl off because I could see a slight wiggle in it only to find not 1 but 2 splits in the rim at spoke holes ! The LBS where I bought it says after the year guarrantee the fix is to send the hub to Mavic for a rebuild with new spokes and rim for $170 ! Needless to say I'm miffed. And the LBS says they see this on occasion and apparently so has Mavic since Mavic now offers "insurance" on new not rebuilds for about 8% of the retail price. I wonder how the LBS handles this ? Oh by the way Mr. Customer these $800 suckers fail but you can buy insurance! Anybody else in this predicament? The LBS gives me this song and dance about lightweight competition equipment being less sturdy than the old reliable stuff. Yea the pros beat this stuff up and down France and I'm supposed to believe they would put up with this ? And I'm a 55 year old smooth pedaling recreational rider doing 9,000 miles a year so these probably have 10k or so miles. Any comments ? Let er rip.
