... pretend you're your favorite racer once in a while.
Last night after watching the Lance Chronicles while having dinner with my parents, I was suddenly filled with the urge to go all out riding my bike.
I left at 10:30pm after watching all those shows on LA on OLN and rode into Central Park and proceeded to ride as hard as I could until my legs couldn't move anymore.
I managed to do 12.5 miles in 30 minutes, on a full stomach (had a big dinner), on my fixed gear, before heading home to Queens.
It felt so awesome, the CP drive was almost completely empty except for the horse-draw carts.

There's nothing like a good night time ride when there's no one else about you can just own the roads. I can screaming down the local hill at 45mph the other day with no lights at 3-30am and it was incredible, i'd recommend it!
I'm all about night riding! I'll usually head out about 11-12 pm and ride for about 2.5 hour and put in about 60 kms. These days, night time is the only time I can get out of the house for a ride anyway. Added bonus is that there is usually no-one on the road at that time during the week.

I live in South Corona, near Queens Center Mall so I take Queens Blvd. all the way to the 59th street bridge into Manhattan. It usually takes me 40 minutes from my door to Central Park (7.5 miles).

that better than taking the left lane of the VanWyck!! i'll have to try that. there's a nice park near the base of the bridge (60th or 61st) to refill water bottles. i stay out by 189th & 80th.
