Hi, I was considering buying this Centurion road bike from Craigslist:

I'm much more informed in the world of mountain biking and I really don't know anything about road bike history, so I was wondering if anyone here has had experience in the past with 80s Centurion bikes. I'd really just be riding it around town for 8-12 mile trips.
Thanks a lot for any input!
Low end "woman's frames" don't usually pull $140, even in inflated markets. Not too terribly priced though, if it really speaks to you or something.

I wouldn't call that a great deal (at least not here in VT). You should ask what the frame is constructed from, but I wouldn't expect much, based on the "suicide" (extra) brake lever extensions, and low end pedals. I think you could do better. My friend was living out in your neck of the woods for a while, and was telling me about some of the great bike deals.
Ive seen similar Centurions listed for cheaper. Good shape ones seem to be listed for about $100 a lot. Its definitely not a great deal but not horrible. If you really want that one, I would try haggling them down quite a bit.
I'd pay mebbe 60 or 70 on that if I needed to pickup a step-thru bike for somebody, but I'm cheap. Even less if its not in great shape like the ad claims.. Any more $ and I'd rather get a mixte. Not hatin on the step-thrus, I'd ride one.. for whatever reason, the market says they aren't worth as much.
Mediocre deal. Centurion made some great bikes and some low end stuff. This is the low end.
Most would prefer a mixte like this Centurion.
