Pacific Northwest - another horrible day

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

was 105 today and I put only 4 miles on the bike. I'm really ****ing pissed off at this heat.
What the hell is going on
we need rain
or snow.
this weather over 90F is just bull****.
Oh, and I won't be getting any sleep tonight either. Toss and turn all night. Just like all of last week. And what will happen for the next 10 days. Great.
I think this is what some scientists called "Global Warning". They said it is caused by people like me who pass too much outhouse gas.
Seriously, it is not the heat but the humidity with no wind that's killing me.

Portland gets 100 degree days in the summer, but not usually for days on end. Even in Seattle it's been above 95 for the last 2 days. I'm a heat wimp (as I found out) but was able to ride OK yesterday by riding after sunset and soaking myself down 2 or 3 times at local parks that fortunately lie right along my 24 mile ride home. Also cut back on the pace. Have you tried doing this? Wet = good :thumb:
Misery is relative. I'm in Baghdad, and I rode on a stationary trainer for an hour today. It's 123 out. I'd kill for a nice ride back in the Pac NW.
Don't know if that makes you feel better or not.

hmmm..... the mid-west and the north east have been unseasonably cool.
Now I know where the hot weather went.
But now that I've got that lame joke out of my system, you guys really do have my sympathy. Life is misery after the temp goes past, say, 85 and muggy.

Poprad, I'm giving you a standing ovation. Thanks for all you are doing for us. Keep your head down and come home safely.
Thanks VG...I thought I knew hot from living in AZ for 5 years...Az has nothing on this place. Riding a trainer here is like riding inside your oven...with a hairdryer in front of your face. I keep imagining that devil guy from the TdF behind me. This seems like a place he'd hang out.
I do sympathize with you guys riding back in the Pac NW though, getting 110 in Portland has to feel just miserable on a bike.

Velomatic? Really? ;)
Yes, really. Why?
Also, we survived hot weather AND SeaFair (in Seattle at least). Congrats to us all.
I hope nobody wants to back to 40 degrees & drizzle, do they?? =]
I say let's enjoy this while it lasts.

dang, you're taking all the fun out of whining!
It's 59 degrees, 8:15 am. That's the thing I like about the PNW, the heat never stays too long and we get back to perfect cycling weather.
