So I’ve been experiencing foot aches on some of my longer rides. The shoes “seem” to fit fine and always have. If I take my shoes off at rest stops and give my feet a little break and some flex, they seem to be fine. Could it still be the expensive Specialized shoes :( or is it just that my feet hate not flexing for so long?

NOt flexing, gettng a little swelling, developing hot spots. It happens worse with sneakers ion platforms, though.

So you're saying this is normal and trading in my existing expensive shoes for a new pair of expensive shoes is not really necessary.

Exactly. The Specialized shoes fit better than most and theyr body geometry design also helps a lot. Try strapping them a little looser, too. As your feet swell, they tighten up and can get too tight if you have them strapped for unswollen feet. Don't be afraid to loosen them up on the ride, either.
