I've done a sidecar before.

They are fun, not as practical as a trailer, but more fun.

Nice! I want one. Not crazy about the colors on the 18-speed model.

I've been looking at trailers for my Xtra and haven't been very happy with what I've found. I want something adaptable that I can take my kayak on one day and my dog the next. That sidecar is absolutely perfect!

just out of curiosity, what do side cars bring for handling oddities (I am thinking of the racing motorcycle sidecars with the rider doing lots of acrobatitcs

I have a Burley flatbed that I use with my Xtra, I love it. I had thought about getting a Yuba, but I felt that the Xtracycle was/is more versatile.

Wide turns in one direction, the sidecar lifts when you turn in the other.
With the car loaded it's wide turns in both directions.

Sidecars look cool, but it's much easier to just drag a trailer behind you and forget it's there.

That sidecar is a Burley flatbed, some spare pipes, and some hose clamps.
For carrying a kayak (so long as you are talking squirt boat and not an 18 foot expedition sea kayak) is one instance where a side car beats a trailer when paired with a longtail.

Could you explain, please? Fun how, and not as practical how?
