Great Lakes - A question for Central Indiana riders

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I live in greenwood, IN and i'm trying to get some opinions on where a good place to buy a bike would be. Things that concern me are as follows: Quality, PRICING, types of bikes they offer, and Location. If any one in the central Indiana Region could help out that'd be great! Peace and Love

Grey Goat is right there in Greenwood, on 31. I've known a couple of people to buy bikes off of them and they seem happy.

If you're looking for a road bike Grey Goat is heavy into Specialized and Bianchi. I bought some Zipp wheels from them this summer and got great service from some very nice guys. BGI has a shop on County Line RD, I've not been there , but I often shop at their north side store. They're heavy into Trek, Cannondale and Giant, BGI north is an extremely busy store, I've found their service is very good- just not very fast due to the volume of bikes they're selling and repairing. For what its worth my next bike purchase will likely be a Cannondale from BGI North.

Also Circle City bicycles at Madison and Epler
If you drive to east side try Matthews at Pendleton Pike and I465 (just to the west of there)

If you are going to be riding thousands of miles per year and want a great fitting bike, Frank Radaker at BGI North is a Serotta trained fitter and a fitting would be worth the investment. I am not sure if he takes appointments at BGI South, I suspect not. I am sure BGI South is good also. I live on the northside so the only time I have been to the southside store is for CIBA rides. Even though the rides start early, BGI South always has the store open for restroom access and for emergency purchases before the ride.

Indianapolis, IMHO, is blessed with a lot of good shops. Even though I live on the northside, I have purchased several items from Circle City Cycles because they had them in stock and they match internet pricing. They always give good service. I have nothing but good things about CCC and Grey Goat also.

Matthews on the east side just off I-465 at Pendleton Pike has the largest volume selection and I have seen some truly outstanding deals there that I would have purchased in a heartbeat if I was in the market for a complete bike.

Indy Cycle Specialist, also on the east side on Washington Street, is truly an outstanding shop with a very large selection and great service and mechanics. Scott Irons, the owner, is almost always there and is one of the few shops where you will see the owner when you walk in the door.

I bought my Trek from Gray Goat. I am more than satisfied with their service. They are fantastic to me. They got a wheel replaced under warranty from Bontrager without me even asking, even though it was well used. Sper friendly, always helpful. There for you well after the bike purchase with free adjustments and plenty of advice. BGI also has a nice selection. A friend bought from there and it also treated well.
