I beg to differ with him. Mid 80s Team 7-11 Huffy.

OK, so it's a rebadged Serotta, but they were still Huffy branded.

+1. Huffy can definitely be vintage.

Even though I'd love to own one of those bikes and even though there are probably some other old Huffys worth having, that CL add is still funny.

One of those went pretty cheap on ebay recently. It was a size too small, lucky for me. :)

Huffy goes way back, and then before they used their family name Huffman. Essentially any American bike from the fifties back were quality built. They might have been heavy but they had quality.

commuting related?

In my mind, vintage means "old and busted" anyway, so it makes perfect sense.

*vintage* is a bit of a euphemism

I have a Huffy track bike from the 80's. Well just a frame, but it is very well made and I would consider it vintage.

I assume somebody else made it for them.

Well the ad won't do the seller much good now. When I clicked on the link to check it out, the ad had been "flagged for removal" by someone.

this is why screenshots for this sort of thing would be nice...

My local LBS in Reno has a Serotta Huffy time trial bike on display. U.S. cycling team bike and not for sale unfortunately. Definitely a classic IMO.
