Hi guys,

I'm keen to get into mountainbiking and am after a bike to commute to work (5km) and ride recreationally on weekends.

A friend of mine is offering me his Specialized Rockhopper Comp (2006) details here.

It's had only about 6 months use, and has been sitting around for over a year after he upgraded to a dual suspension.

Cost him $900AU, selling for $400AU. What are these bikes like? Sound like a good deal?

If it's solid it a pretty good deal.

What do you mean solid? What should I look for?

If it changes shape to conform to its container, it may not be a solid. For information about that, check out the Gaseous and Liquid Mountain Biking forums...

If it isn't beat up. Check under the top and down tubes, right before the head tube. If you feel a bump it could have had a head on crash, be weary. And of course, check for cracks and the like.
