Record temps this week.
Anyone getting out for long, hard rides?
I'm still commuting, but I stayed in today (it's my week-end) instead of going out on a 2 hour ride and giving myself heat stroke.

I started a new job this week, and I've been looking forward to the new ride (~20km one way)...but it looks like it'll be a while before I get started. This heat is oppressive. Apparently its supposed to be even hotter into early next week.

Southerners would probably laugh at this, but when you're not used to it, you just have to take it easy

Yeah, I did get a chuckle out of it. We only reached 108 yesterday (about 8% humidity) in Las Vegas and I rode about 13 miles (20 km) in the early evening before the sun went down. It was hotter and a lot more humid last week which made riding much less pleasurable then.

We would also be laughing but for the fact that we've had your weather since May. I was planning on going out for a hard 50K ride tonight but the waves of hard rain that we've had all day that are supposed to continue into tonight will probably nix that idea. Low of 12 C predicted for overnight. I'm still waiting for this global warming thing. I think we've had 6-7 straight months of below normal temps.

I'm missing those overcast days of 15. That's plenty warm for long rides.

This a.m. Environment Canada has confirmed 8 consecutive months of below normal temps here. Plus in July we've already had almost 50% more rain than ususal. After 45 years of semi-arid weather I'm finding that this wet stuff blows.
However, last night after 7 pm we had scattered clouds and 16 C. Good enough for a 40 km loop.

Gods Balls: I broke a sweat throwing the softball before our game on Wednesday.
And some stupid punks started a fire at Trout Lake: Fire Dep't was there in less that 10 minutes...

Actually, since I've moved back to Toronto, I swear that Vancouver and Toronto have switched weather patterns. I'm not complaining though, because I love the west coast climate. I just hope it switches back by the time I return to the coast.
