Weee! Just got back, had to walk home.
>Sooo, I rip along the roads to get to these nice glacier carved bluffs\ rocks fairly close to home.
Doing some tecnical rock stuff, AND I have to run this small crevice between some large boulders.
I pick the high side as the crack is sharp, narrow and pointing down....the rear slips off the side of the boulder>then the front.
So now i'm pointing down @ a stupid degree, with my back wheel stuck in this rock crack. Like an unsafe degree to be motionless.
So I have the front brake on and I bunny hop the tire out- Ya it worked, TOO well, the back end is lifting way too much, I'm comitted with the angle I'm on> So I release the front brake> No go, can't pedal (rock walls) and the back is still going up.
I was picking a line to get to this little grassy spot down 5 feet infront, as it becomes obvious the front is not going to correct the rear coming up... I decide to save my @$$ and dive OVER the bars ninja style and land on the grass.
Which i did, flipped the bike over my back, it land in front of me, banging off rocks.
No worries, it steel, I built it up GOOD, If It DIDN'T survive, I don't want it.
So I don't have a bruise or scratch, LOL totally happy, start climbing rocks again and....the derailler wont go over my largest cog. I flip the bike, start fiddling with derailler screws.. HEY!, it's not spinning free...look @ my wheel..It's warped in 3 places.
WTF! I've bent a few rims, never in 3 spots, 1 minor bail. The rim was worked on last month, spokes and a warp.
My mechanic is gonna probably tell me its toast\ maybe not. Pleasepleaseplease be fixable.
BUT, if he does say it's finished, can you recommend a new rim to me? This is a sweet old Mavick, but I need something more sturdy, less racey. I'm 150lbs, ride hard singletrack, some technical, little jumps, say 3-4 feet to flat.
Going to stick with DT Swiss spoke.
Soo nothing DH MASHER, but considered stronger than this one  .
I'm not even upset with the damage because I'm in such good shape.
Total Ninja, With some practice I will flip the bike over\ infront and upright, just jump back on. Ha.
First 5 min into my fun and blammo, lets bail. Whatta day :)
