My bike has a Sturmey-Archer IGH and a 1/8" chain (KMC). About 1000 miles on it including winter riding. Haven't given it much TLC, just lubed it occasionally. It's pretty grungy.

I'd like to take it off the bike, give it a thorough cleaning, put it back on and relube. I have a small chain tool on my Topeak Alien multitool, probably enough to pop a pin out and get the chain off the bike. Question is, how to put the chain back together? Do I need to order some spare links or pins? Most of the advice on the web I've read is oriented toward 3/32" chains for derailleur equipped bikes. The SRAM Powerlink looks appealing, if it's compatible with 1/8" chain. Any advice?

Thanks!

Id check to see if it has a Master Link on it first. Much easier to pop the chain apart that way.

I'll check. And if it does, can I just pop it back together or do I need a new part?

This will show you what to look for regards a quick-link set-up - if you have one. If not - use a good, solid chain-tool. I just gave my 3-Spd. a new chain (along with a new drivetrain). These are excellent!
