Pacific Northwest - Hot August Days Canceled!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just found out that the Hot August Days Bike Tour has been canceled due to lack of registrants. Sorta torques me off, since I've been planning on it, and they should have given more time for people (like me) to sign up. I always sign up around two weeks prior to an event, as do a lot of other people. Why cancel so early?
They sent me a brochure around a month or so ago, and I didn't realize it was canceled until I checked on the website (http://www.ncwsportsevents.com) today. This would have been my fourth year...
The most likely reason is that organizers can't wait until 2 weeks or a week before to see how much intrest there is because at that point it is too late to get all the required permits, licenses, insurance etc. I would assume that it looked as though they were going to lose money on those things and decided to pull the plug.

You can figure that a lot of people sign up late, but still, if they've run it for several years, they'd know if ridership was up or down just from the early registrants.
