Hi, I live in the south bay area and I have a few questions about this mixte:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/bik/1296118037.html

"12 Speed Peugeot 50c Mixtie Road Bike,New Tires,Alloy Components and Wheels. This bike has a 19.5" step through frame.
All the latest news:
Awesome Paint Finish, bar tape, new tires, and tuneup, with Shimano and Suntour components. It's a cute bike and a nice daily rider. $180 "

Can anyone identify the make of this bike?
Can anyone guess the weight of this bike, and are vintage peugeots light in general?
Is $180 a fair asking price for this?

Thanks!

For the San Fran market, that is probably a reasonable price. As far as weight, ad states that it has a lot of alloy parts. It just depends how many of the parts are alloy. Could be around 27 pound area.

Pictures are not clear enough for me to make out the model/year. I would assume it is one of the low end Peugeot mixtes, with some good upgrades. It still has the turkey levers and stem shifters, dead giveaways of a lower end bike. But most mixtes were lower end, and the price is not that high. And with the alloy upgrades, sounds like a pretty decent bike.

I would guess early 1980s, something like a 1984 P16 (which came in red) or a 1983 P19 (that did not according to the catalog, but the crank in the C/L ad is just like the 1983). The P19 came stock with mostly alloy components. The P16 came with a lot of steel components.

There are many Peugeot experts on this list that can probably ID it exactly.

Year and model doesn't really matter much at all. Value really depends on condition and the amount of alloy components.

Price is OK...not a deal but if your the end user its OK. Expect the weight to be 25lbs or so.
